The body is a complex machine that needs proper maintenance and care for it to function optimally. Your body endures poor food choices, stress, sleep deprivation, environmental toxins, and inactivity, so, on occasion, your machine will get sick. When it does, subdue your illness from a natural approach. Extend healthy living beyond your dinner plate and into your medicine cabinet. Stock your medicine cabinet with essential natural remedies.
Natural remedies, according to Brigitte Mars, an herbalist and co-author of The Country Almanac of Home Remedies, “Natural remedies help to bring you back into balance by bolstering immunity, strengthening the body, and encouraging it to heal itself.”
Too often, your knee-jerk reaction is to reach for the over-the-counter drugs (OTCD) or prescriptions to treat an illness or condition. The stark reality is that OTCD and medicines suppress the symptoms whereas natural remedies boost our immune system and improve overall health. When a virus invades, a healthy body has a better chance to overthrow the virus or rebound from infection.
It’s incredible the number of natural remedies that take up residence in your kitchen or garden. Building an arsenal of natural remedies for healthy living is an inexpensive way to combat illnesses.
In the early stages of my battle with Lyme Disease, natural remedies and clean eating helped subdue the illness. You can read more about my journey with acute Lyme Disease here.
Once I cleared my body of the disease with the help of natural remedies and clean eating, It made sense not to contaminate my system with OTCD.
The list of remedies that I provide is by no means an exhaustive list. There are many other healthy living products available, but these will help you create a chemical-free, non-toxic first aid station at home.
